Weekly Newsletter

14th October 2020

Many thanks for the warm welcome I have received since arriving here last week. Last Sunday I was particularly moved to hear the letter of my appointment read out in the presence of the people the Bishop has asked me to serve. It has been a great pleasure to meet so many of you already. Please bear with me as I try to remember names, a task not made easier with face masks! If you haven't had the opportunity to introduce yourself yet, please do say hello when you get the chance, I would like to meet as many people as possible. For those who aren't able to come to Mass at the moment, be assured that you are very much in my prayers and I would be delighted to hear from you as well if you get the chance. If you would like to contact me by email, please do so at the following email address: richard.elson@cliftondiocese.com

With my prayers and best wishes as we begin this new stage in the life of our parishes.

Fr Richard

Reaching out to People in Need Locally

We have all been affected by the current Covid-19 situation but for some families it has hit hard financially. Loss of employment has led a lot more people to seek the help of our Local Foodbank run by Gordano Valley Church. There are 3 suggested ways in which we can help: a) drop essential household / non-perishable food items off at GVC Offices - 4 Combe Road Portishead BS20 6BJ, b) drop these items off at Tom's house to take down the hill (email me for logistics of this - tafosman@hotmail.co.uk) c) donate money direct to the Foodbank. Email or ring GVC offices to arrange the best way to go about this third way to support - admin@gvc.org.uk or 01275 847032. Thanks for your support in prayer and deed; supporting the local Foodbank.

RIP - Anne Mary Bull   Please pray for the repose of the soul Anne Mary Bull who sadly passed away on 7th October.  Funeral Service will take place at St Joseph's Church at 12.30pm for family members only but is available to watch on livestream.  Please keep her family in your prayers at this sad time.

Thank You

We have received a thank you card from Fr Tom saying how beautiful and thought provoking the PhotoBook and the comments are. So, a great big thank you to all who contributed.
